Front Fender: Service and Repair

Fender Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure


Notice: Refer to Tape Corners of Panel Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Apply tape to panel and adjacent surfaces.
2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper) in Bumpers.
3. Remove the rocker panel molding. Refer to Molding Replacement - Rocker Panel () in Exterior Trim.
4. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the assist rod assembly to fender screws. Refer to Assist Rod Replacement - Hood (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the fender emblem. Refer to Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Front Fender (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Front Fender) in Exterior Trim.




7. Tilt the hood side bumper (1) forward slightly and carefully slide it rearward to disengage it from the inner edge of the fender (2).




8. Remove the nut (3) from the rear of the fender.
9. From behind the fender, remove the bolt (1) attaching the rear of the fender.
10. Remove the bolt (2) attaching the rear of the fender to the vehicle.




11. Remove the 7 bolts (1) attaching the fender (3) to the vehicle.
12. Remove the rocker panel molding bracket (2) from the lower rear edge of the fender (3), if necessary.
13. Remove the fender (3) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the fender (3) to the vehicle.
2. Install the rocker panel molding bracket to the rear lower fender (3), if removed.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the 7 fender bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).





4. Install the bolt (2) attaching the rear of the fender to the vehicle.

Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

5. From behind the fender, install the bolt (1) and nut (3) attaching the lower fender.

Tighten the nut to 6 N.m (53 lb in).





6. Install the hood side bumper (1) to the inner edge of the fender (2).
7. Install the fender emblem. Refer to Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Front Fender (Emblem/Nameplate Replacement - Front Fender) in Exterior Trim.
8. Install the assist rod assembly to fender screws. Refer to Assist Rod Replacement - Hood (Service and Repair) .
9. Install the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Install the rocker molding. Refer to Molding Replacement - Rocker Panel () in Exterior trim.
11. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper) in Bumpers.
12. Remove the protective tape.
