Lock Replacement - Door

Removal Procedure

1. Position the window completely up.




2. Remove the inner door handle assembly. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Inside (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the 3 door brackets (1) from the door inner panel (3) by levering out the center pin of the bracket.

Important: The door water deflector only needs to be partly removed to complete this procedure.


5. Carefully peel back the door water deflector (2) from the door inner panel (3).




6. Disconnect the door harness connector (2) from the door lock assembly (3).
7. Remove the 3 screws (4) securing the lock assembly (3) to the inner door panel (1).




8. For the driver's door only, disconnect the front door lock cylinder rod (1) from the door lock assembly (2) by releasing the rod retainer.




9. Disconnect the door locking rod (2) from the door lock assembly (5) by releasing the rod retainer and then remove the rod.
10. Disconnect the inside handle rod (4) from the lock assembly by releasing the rod retainer. If required, remove the rod by disengaging it from the 2 door inside handle rod clips (3).
11. The outside handle rod assembly (1) will disengage from the lock assembly, when the lock assembly is being removed.
12. Remove the assembly through the access hole in the door inner panel.
13. Remove the lock actuator, if necessary. Refer to Lock Actuator Replacement - Door () .



Installation Procedure





1. Install the front door lock acutator, if removed. Refer to Lock Actuator Replacement - Door () .
2. Install the front door lock assembly in the position through the access hole in the front door inner panel.
3. Engage the outside handle rod assembly (1) to the lock assembly.
4. Connect the inside handle rod (4) to the lock assembly, engage the rod to the two inside door handle rod clips (3), if removed.
5. Connect the door locking rod (2) to the door lock assembly (5).




6. If working on the driver's door, connect the door lock cylinder rod (1) to the door lock assembly (2).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

7. Install the 3 door lock screws (4) securing the lock assembly (3) to the inner door panel (1).

Tighten the door lock screws to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

8. Connect the door harness connector (2) to the door lock assembly (3).




9. Reposition and secure the door water deflector (2) to the door inner panel (3).
10. Install the 3 door brackets (1) to the door inner panel (3).
11. Install the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
12. Install the inner door handle assembly. Refer to Door Handle Replacement - Inside (Service and Repair) .
13. Inspect the lock system for the proper operation.
