Parking Brake Shoe: Service and Repair

Park Brake Shoe Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
2. Grasp each end of the park brake shoe (1).
3. Push the end of the shoe up in order to remove the shoe from the adjuster tappet and the shoe spring.





4. Rotate the shoe (2) around the hub flange (1) in order to remove the shoe from the vehicle
5. Remove the park brake hardware. Refer to Park Brake Hardware Replacement.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate and install the park brake hardware. Refer to Park Brake Hardware Replacement.
2. Position the park brake shoe (2) over the hub flange (1).
3. Position the end of the shoe on the adjusting screw (4).
4. Rotate the shoe in order to position the shoe on the adjuster tappet (3).





5. Install the shoe spring (1). Slide the spring into position. Engage the spring tangs into the brake shield.
6. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
7. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
