Muffler Replacement (Front)

Removal Procedure





1. Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the catalytic converter to front muffler flange bolts (1).
4. Support the left and right side catalytic converter assembly with a jackstand.
5. Remove the front muffler to rear muffler flange bolts (2).
6. Separate the front muffler from the catalytic converter and rear muffler assemblies.
7. Remove the front muffler assembly from the support hangers.
8. Remove the front muffler assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the catalytic converter assembly to the vehicle.
2. Install the front muffler assembly to the support hangers.

3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the front muffler to rear muffler flange bolts (2).
Tighten the front muffler to rear muffler flange bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the catalytic converter to front muffler flange bolts (1).
Tighten the catalytic converter to front muffler flange bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove the jackstand supporting the left and right side muffler assembly.
6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Caution: Refer to Exhaust Service Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

Connect the negative battery cable.
