Headlamp Bulb Replacement (High Beam)

HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (HIGH BEAM)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the hood.

CAUTION: Refer to Halogen Bulb Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the rear of the relevant headlamp assembly.
3. Remove the upper radiator shroud.
4. If removing the right hand high beam headlamp bulb, it may be necessary to remove the battery to gain access. Refer to Battery Replacement in Starting and Charging.

5. From within the engine compartment, remove the inboard dust cap (1) from the rear of the headlamp assembly (2) by turning the dust cap (1) counter clockwise, and pulling it away from the headlamp assembly (2).

6. Disconnect the wiring connector (3) from the high beam bulb (1) by squeezing the 2 tabs together and pulling the wiring connector (3) down from the high beam bulb (1).
7. Rotate the high beam bulb (1) counterclockwise and remove the high beam bulb (1) from the high beam bulb holder (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the high beam bulb (1) into the high beam bulb holder (2).
2. Turn the high beam bulb (1) clockwise to lock into place.
3. Install the high beam bulb connector (3) by pushing it into the base of the high beam bulb (1) until the tabs engage.

IMPORTANT: The different sized locating lugs on the bulb base and mating cut-outs in the bulb holder allow the bulb to seat correctly in one orientation only. This ensures correct relationship of the bulb to the reflector.

4. Install the dust cap (1) onto the rear of the headlamp assembly (2)

IMPORTANT: Inspect the seal in the dust cap to ensure that it is not damaged and that it is seated correctly. Replace the seal if it is damaged.

5. Lock the dust cap (1) into place by turning clockwise.

IMPORTANT: The different size lugs on the dust cap and the mating cut-outs in the headlamp assembly ensure that the dust cap can only be installed in one orientation. The chamfered flats of the cap need to be facing inboard for the cap to install.

6. Connect the wiring harness connector to the rear of the headlamp assembly.
7. Install the battery, if removed.
8. Install the upper radiator shroud.
9. Aim the headlamps, if required. Refer to Headlamp Aiming.
10. Close the hood.
