Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
Tools Required
^ J45059 Angle Meter
Removal Procedure
1. Shift the transmission into PARK (A/T) or NEUTRAL (M/T).
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
Important: Support the drive shaft until removed.
3. Mark the relationship (2) of the inner constant velocity joint and the inner axle.
4. Remove the bolts (3) and retaining plates (4) from the inner constant velocity joint
5. Remove the bolts and retaining plates (2) from the outer constant velocity joint
6. Remove the drive shaft.
Installation Procedure
1. Important: Support the drive shaft until it is completely installed.
Align the marks (2) on the inner constant velocity joint and the inner axle.
2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the inner mount bolts (3) and retainer plates (4).
1. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
2. Using J45059, apply an additional 68 degrees of torque.
3. Install the outer constant velocity joint mount bolts (1).
1. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
2. Using J45059, apply an additional 68 degrees of torque.
4. Remove the support stand.
5. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
