88. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and EGR Pipe Installation



Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and EGR Pipe Installation





1. Install the EGR inlet pipe into the RH exhaust manifold as the EGR valve adapter assembly is installed onto the cylinder head.

Important: Inspect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) inlet/outlet pipes for leaks before installation. If cracks, deformations or any visible signs of leaking are present, replace the appropriate part.


2. Install the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts and the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt.
^ Tighten the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe to the lower intake and the EGR valve adapter assembly.
4. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe bolt and nut.
Tighten the EGR valve outlet pipe bolt and nut to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the EGR valve gasket and EGR valve.
6. Install the EGR valve nuts.
Tighten the EGR valve nuts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).





7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
8. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





9. Install the heated oxygen sensor.
Tighten the heated oxygen sensor to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).
