Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement



COMPRESSOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.




3. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the condenser.
4. Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the condenser.




5. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the evaporator tube.
6. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the evaporator tube.




7. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the A/C compressor.
8. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
9. Remove and discard all sealing washers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly.
2. Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.




3. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the A/C compressor.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.

4. Install new seals washers to the A/C compressor hose assembly and evaporator tube.




5. Install the A/C compressor hose to the evaporator tube.
6. Install the A/C compressor hose to evaporator tube nut.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).




7. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
8. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).

IMPORTANT: Use a 20 mm wrench or pliers to hold the A/C condenser block fitting, this will prevent the A/C line from twisting while torquing the A/C line nut.

9. Install the air cleaner assembly.
10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
