Cylinder Head Assembly

Important: Install new cylinder head bolts.

^ First Pass 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
^ Final Pass 120 degrees
Cylinder Head Deck Height 216.459 mm (8.522 inch)
Cylinder Head Deck Surface Flatness - Overall 0.0762 mm (0.003 inch)
Valve Lifter Bore Diameter 21.424-21.450 mm (0.8435-0.8445 inch)

^ Combustion Chamber Depth - at Measurement Point 3.9166-5.4356 mm (0.154-0.214 inch)
^ Cylinder Head Height/Thickness 103.492-104.178 mm (4.0745-4.1015 inch)
^ Surface Finish 0.0032 mm (0.000125 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Block Deck 0.1016 mm (0.004 inch)
^ Surface Flatness - Exhaust Manifold Deck 0.1016 mm (0.004 inch)

Throttle Body Bolt/Nut 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.)





Upper Intake Manifold Bolt
Install the upper intake manifold bolts and the studs (1-10).
Tighten the bolts in sequence to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





Lower Intake Manifold - Non-Supercharged (Non-SC)
Install the lower intake manifold bolts (1-12).
Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts in sequence
L26 to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).





Lower Intake Manifold - Supercharged (SC)
Align the coolant bypass tube with the opening in the manifold.
Install the lower intake manifold bolts.
Tighten from the center to the outside in sequence
L32 to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

^ Camshaft Bearing Inside Diameter - 1 and 4 46.970-46.934 mm (1.8478-1.8492 inch)
^ Camshaft Bearing Inside Diameter 2 and 3 46.977-46.942 mm (1.8481-1.8495 inch)
^ Camshaft Journal Diameter 47.655-46.858 mm (1.8462-1.8448 inch)
^ Camshaft Journal Out-of-Round 0.00635 mm (0.00025 inch)

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left
Install the left exhaust manifold.
Install the exhaust manifold bolts and the nuts.
Tighten the bolts and the nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).





Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right
Install the right exhaust manifold (2).
^ Install the right exhaust manifold studs (4) and the nuts (3).
^ Tighten the studs and the nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
Exhaust Manifold Bolt/Nut 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Bolt 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Nut 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Pipe Stud Nut 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Stud 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold
^ Surface Flatness - Maximum 0.5 mm (0.02 inch)
