Service Engine Soon (SES) Light On/Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) P0300, P0171 and P0174, Active Fuel Management Misfire Due to Fuel Injector Connectors Crossed/Swapped/Incorrectly Installed (Inspect and Correctly Connect Fuel Injector Connectors)

with 5.3L Active Fuel Management Engine (RPOs LH6, LS4)

2007 GMC Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL Denali, Yukon XL
with 5.3L or 6.0L Vortec V8 Engine (RPOs LMG, LY5, LC9, L76)

This bulletin is being revised to include additional information on 2007 model year usage. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-06-04-001 (Section 06-Engine/Propulsion System).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the SES light is on.
Diagnosis with a scan tool may reveal a DTC P0300, P0171, P0174.
No other driveability or performance concerns may be reported.
Cause
The most likely cause of this issue may be that the fuel injector connectors are crossed or incorrectly installed.
For example, the number 6 fuel injector connector may be plugged into the number 8 fuel injector or visa versa.
Correction
1. Using a scan tool, check for DTC(s) and write them down.
2. Open the hood and install fender covers.
Important:
DO NOT assume that the fuel injector connectors are properly installed on the correct fuel injectors regardless of mileage.
3. Using the appropriate SI Fuel Injectors Schematic, verify that the fuel injector connectors are correctly installed on the correct fuel injectors.
^ If the a fuel injector connector is found to be incorrectly installed, correctly install the fuel injector connectors using the appropriate SI Fuel Injector Schematic and continue with the next step.
^ If the fuel injectors are found to be correctly installed, refer to the appropriate SI Document for diagnosis of the DTC from step 1.
4. Remove the fender covers and close the hood.
5. Using a scan tool, clear the DTC(s).
6. Road test the vehicle at steady highway speeds allowing the vehicle to go into active fuel management to verify the repair.
