Drivers Information Center (DIC) French Language Translation Is Incorrect (Verify DIC Part Number and Reprogram DIC)

Models:
2005-2006 Pontiac Grand Prix (Canada Only)

Condition

Some customers may comment that when selecting French language on the Drivers Information Center (DIC) the months of February, August, and December are not spelled correctly. Also, the accent marks on the display may appear as square blocks.

Correction

Verify the DIC part number with the Tech 2(R) Diagnostic Scan Tool and reprogram the DIC using the steps below.

Verify the condition

Use the Tech 2(R) Diagnostic Scan Tool to obtain the DIC part number.

Verify the DIC part number.

If you have P/N 10349986 (3-button base level DIC) or P/N 10349987 (5-button uplevel (DIC)), proceed to Step 4. If you have a different part number, refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) Inoperative in SI for further diagnosis.

A new service calibration has been developed to correct this condition.

Reprogram the DIC with the software now available in the TIS2WEB using the Service Programming Systems (SPS).

Verify the condition has been repaired.
