B3265

DTC B3265

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The body control module (BCM) controls the trunk release by grounding the trunk release relay control circuit. When the trunk release relay coil is grounded, the relay contacts close, applying voltage to the trunk release actuator via the trunk release actuator supply voltage circuit.

DTC DESCRIPTOR

- This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
- DTC B3265 Trunk Relay Output
- This vehicle has DTCs which include DTC symptoms. For more information on DTC symptoms, refer to DTC Symptom Description in Vehicle DTC Information. DTC Symptom Description

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The BCM monitors the voltage level on the trunk release relay control circuit in all ignition positions.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The BCM will set DTC B3265 as current whenever an improper voltage level is detected on the trunk release relay control circuit for more than 5 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The BCM will disable the driver for the trunk release relay control circuit whenever DTC B3265 is set as current.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
DTC B3265 will clear when an improper voltage level is no longer detected on the trunk release relay control circuit, or when a scan tool is used to clear DTCs.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
- Inspect for a sticking trunk release switch.
- Perform a visual inspection for loose or poor connections at all related components.

TEST DESCRIPTION

Step 1 - Step 13:

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Listen for an audible click when the trunk release relay operates. Command both the ON and OFF states. Repeat the commands as necessary.
3. Tests for voltage at the coil side of the trunk release relay. The trunk fuse supplies power to the coil side of the power release relay.
4. Verifies that the BCM is providing ground to the trunk release relay.
5. Tests if ground is constantly being applied to the trunk release relay.
