Installation Procedure

Installation Procedure





1. Install a suitable engine lifting devise to the engine.
2. Remove the engine from the stand.
3. Install the following components:
^ The clutch pressure plate and disc-Refer to Clutch Drive Plate and Clutch Driven Plate.
^ The flywheel-Refer to Engine Flywheel Installation.
4. Install the engine to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Install the right engine mount upper nut.
Tighten the nut to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





6. Install the left engine mount upper nut.
Tighten the nut to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
7. Raise and support the vehicle.





8. Install the bellhousing bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





9. Install the lower bellhousing bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





10. Install the torque converter to flywheel bolts, if equipped with a automatic transmission.
Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
11. Install the starter motor and bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
12. Install the muffler.





13. Install the catalytic converter and gasket (2).
14. Install the catalytic converter nuts (1).
Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





15. Position the compressor and install the A/C compressor bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).





16. Position the branches of the engine harness to the engine.
17. Connect the engine harness clip (2) to the bracket.
18. Install the engine harness bracket bolt (1).
Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
19. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.





20. Connect the engine harness clips (3, 4) to the camshaft cover.
21. Connect the engine harness clip (2) to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bracket.
22. Connect the EVAP canister purge solenoid electrical connector (1).





23. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector (4).
24. Install the engine harness ground terminal bolt (2).
Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
25. Connect the exhaust CMP sensor electrical connector (1).





26. Connect the intake CMP sensor electrical connector.





27. Connect the HO2S electrical connector clip (4) to the strut.
28. Connect the engine harness clips (1) to the junction block bracket.
29. Connect the rear HO2S electrical connector (2).
30. Connect the front HO2S electrical connector (1).
31. Install the CPA retainers to the HO2S electrical connectors.





32. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors.





33. Install the engine harness clip (1) to the camshaft cover.





34. Connect the exhaust CMP actuator electrical connector (2).
35. Connect the intake CMP actuator electrical connector (1).





36. Install the engine harness clips (2, 5).
37. Connect the ETC electrical connector (3).
38. Connect the fuel injector electrical connector (1).





39. Install the engine harness clip to the surge tank air bleed hose.





40. Connect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.
41. Install the engine harness clip to the wiper motor hole.





42. Connect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.





43. Position the negative/positive battery cable.
44. Connect knock sensor electrical connector (3).
45. Connect the air conditioning compressor electrical connector (6).
46. Install the positive battery cable terminal to the generator (5).
47. Install the generator terminal nut (2).
Tighten the nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
48. Position the positive battery cable terminal boot (4).
49. Connect the generator electrical connector (1).





50. Install the negative battery cable ground bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





51. Install NEW tie straps to the engine harness.
52. Install the positive battery cable clip (7) to the bracket.
53. Raise and support the vehicle.
54. Install the positive battery cable terminal (5) to the starter.
55. Install the positive battery cable clips (3, 6) to the intake manifold.
56. Install the starter solenoid terminal nut (4).
Tighten the nut to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





57. Install the engine harness clip (1) to the intake manifold.
58. Install the engine harness terminal (1) to the starter.
59. Install the starter solenoid "S" terminal nut (3).
Tighten the nut to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.).





60. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector (2).
61. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector (1).





62. Install the catalytic converter to bracket bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
63. Lower the vehicle.





64. Install the engine harness clips to the oil level indicator tube and the radiator outlet hose bracket.





65. Install the fuel feed and EVAP line clip from the oil level indicator tube bracket.





66. Install the brake booster vacuum hose to the intake manifold.
67. Position brake booster vacuum hose clamp at the intake manifold.





68. Install the heater inlet and outlet hoses to the thermostat.
69. Position the heater inlet and outlet hose clamps at the thermostat.





70. Position the air bleed hose.
71. Install the surge tank air bleed hose to the engine.
72. Position the surge tank air bleed hose clamp at the engine.





73. Install the surge tank outlet hose.
74. Install the surge tank clip to the oil level indicator tube bracket.
75. Position the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank.





76. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat housing and oil cooler.
77. Position the surge tank outlet hose clamps at the thermostat housing and oil cooler.





78. Position the outlet hose.
79. Install the radiator outlet hose to the thermostat housing and oil cooler.
80. Position the radiator outlet hose clamps at the thermostat housing and oil cooler.





81. Install the radiator inlet hose.
82. Position the radiator inlet hose clamp at the engine.





83. Connect the fuel feed pipe (2) to the fuel rail.
84. Connect the EVAP canister purge solenoid tube to the valve (1).
85. Install the radiator.
86. Install the hood.
87. Connect the negative battery cable.
88. Fill the engine oil.
