Rear Compartment Lamp(S) Inoperative

REAR COMPARTMENT LAMP(S) INOPERATIVE

DIAGNOSTIC FAULT INFORMATION

IMPORTANT: Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Testing and Inspection

CIRCUIT/SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The INTERIOR LIGHTS fuse supplies battery voltage to the body control module (BCM). The BCM applies battery voltage to the rear compartment lamp through the rear compartment lamp control circuit. The rear compartment lamp is provided ground permanently at G402. When the BCM receives a rear hatch open input, the BCM will activate the rear compartment lamp control circuit to provide battery voltage to the rear compartment lamp.

CIRCUIT/SYSTEM TESTING
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the rear compartment lamp.
2. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the rear compartment lamp control circuit and ground at the rear compartment lamp harness connector.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the rear compartment lamp control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
3. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the rear compartment lamp control circuit and the rear compartment lamp ground circuit at the rear compartment lamp harness connector.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the rear compartment lamp ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear compartment lamp.
