Brake Hose Replacement - Rear (Drum Brakes)

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Clean the brake hose (1) and the 2 fittings (3,6).

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Cautions and Notices.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Loosen the 2 fittings.
5. Remove the 2 brake hose retainers (4,5).
6. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipes (2,7).
7. Install caps or plugs to the brake pipe fittings in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure
1. Remove the caps or plugs from the brake pipes (2,7).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the brake hose (1) and the 2 retainers (4,5) to the brake pipes (2,7).
Tighten
Tighten the fittings to 15.2 N.m (11.21 lb ft).

3. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding. Service and Repair
4. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
5. Lower the vehicle.
