Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair
Proportioning Valve Replacement (Non-ABS)
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Cautions and Notices.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Caution and Notices.
1. Clean the outside of the reservoir and the reservoir cap (4).
2. Remove the reservoir cap.
3. Remove the reservoir diaphragm.
4. Remove the brake fluid with a syringe.
5. Clean the proportioning valve (7) and the brake pipes.
6. Remove the 5 brake pipes from the proportioning valve.
7. Remove the 2 bolts (5,6).
8. Remove the proportioning valve.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Install the proportioning valve (7) and the 2 bolts (5,6) to the cowl.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N.m (47.79 lb in).
2. Install the brake pipes to the proportioning valve.
3. Tighten the flare nuts (1 2,3,4,8).
Tighten
Tighten the flare nuts to 15.2 N.m (11.2 lb ft).
4. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding. Service and Repair
