Radiator: Service and Repair
Radiator ReplacementRemoval Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
4. Remove the radiator outlet hose.
5. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines.
6. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector.
7. Disconnect two fan motor electrical harness clamps from the fan shroud.
8. Remove two radiator fan mount bolts.
9. Remove the radiator fan with the motor
10. Transfer all necessary components onto the replacement radiator.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Position the radiator fan with the motor.
^ Tighten the radiator bolts to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect two fan motor electrical harness clamps to the fan shroud.
3. Connect the fan motor electrical connector.
4. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines.
5. Install the radiator outlet hose.
6. Install the radiator inlet hose.
7. Refill the cooling system.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
Important: Watch for a potential overheating condition while the engine is operating with the radiator cap off.
9. Start and run the engine until the coolant is at operating temperature.
10. Inspect the transmission fluid level, on vehicles with automatic transmission.
11. Tighten any loose connections as necessary.
