Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

Front Pipe Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the oxygen sensors.
2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





3. Remove the floor panel brace.





4. Remove the following components from the exhaust manifold:
^ The 2 bolts
^ The 2 springs
5. Remove the following components from the front pipe to the Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe:
^ The 2 bolts
^ The 2 springs
6. Remove the front pipe from the front pipe hanger (2).
7. Remove the front pipe from the vehicle.
8. Clean the gasket and seal the mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the front pipe to the vehicle.





2. Install the front pipe to the front pipe hanger (2).





3. Install the following components to the front pipe to the Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe:
^ The 2 springs
^ The 2 bolts
^ Tighten the front pipe-to-Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the following components to the exhaust manifold:
^ The 2 springs
^ The 2 bolts
^ Tighten the front pipe-to-exhaust manifold bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the floor panel brace.
^ Tighten the front pipe floor brace nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the oxygen sensors.
7. Lower the vehicle.
