Intermediate Shaft Removal

- J 34826Hub Nut Socket
- J 8614-01Countershaft Driven Gear Holder
- J 35421Rack End Bushing Installer
- J 8092 Driver Handle
- J 37758 Countershaft Rear Plug Installer
1. Remove the 13 bolts and the rear case cover (1) from the transaxle case.
2. Unstake the intermediate shaft locknut (1) and unstake the counter shaft locknut.
3. Install the J 8614-01 onto the countershaft driven gear (2) in order to hold the countershaft driven gear (1) stationary during the removal of the intermediate shaft lock nut.
4. Use the J 34826 in order to remove the intermediate shaft locknut from the intermediate shaft.
5. Remove the J 8614-01 from the countershaft driven gear.
6. Remove the intermediate shaft (2) from the transaxle case (1).
7. Use the J 35421 with the J 8092 and a hydraulic press (1) in order to remove the countershaft drive gear from the transaxle case.
8. Remove the countershaft drive gear inner bearing (2) from the transaxle case.
9. Remove the crush sleeve from the countershaft drive gear.
10. Remove the countershaft drive gear outer race snap ring (2) from the countershaft drive gear outer race (1).
11. Use the J 37758 with the J 8092 and a hydraulic press in order to remove the countershaft drive gear outer race from the transaxle case.
