Gearshift Lever Case Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect the shift cables.
3. Remove the 4 gear shift guide case bolts.
4. Remove the gear shift guide case.
5. Remove the gasket.
6. Remove the 2 gear shift guide case bracket bolts.

Important: When removing the shifting bracket notice that there is a select lever bushing and that it must be replaced in its original position, or incorrect shifting may occur.

7. Remove the gear shift guide bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the gear shift guide bracket and the 2 bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the gear shift guide case gasket.
3. Install the gear shift guide case and the 4 bolts.
Tighten the gear shift guide case bolts to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the shift cables.
5. Install the air cleaner assembly.
