Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear

^ Tools Required
- J 23444-A Extreme Press Lubricant
- CH-47914 Bearing Replacer

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the wheel bearing retainer clip.





2. Insert the threaded rod (1) through the bearing.

3. Important:
Ensure the raised portion of the spacers fit inside the inner bearing race.

Position the CH-47914-2 large spacer (6) and the CH-47914-3 small spacer (3) on the rod.
4. Position the 2 flat washers (2, 5) and the 2 nuts (4, 7) on the rod.





5. Tighten the nuts in order to position the spacers on the bearing.





6. Ensure the majority of the rod protrudes from the outboard side of the drum.
7. Apply a light coat of J 23444-A on the rod.





8. Important:
Position the thrust bearing between the receiver and the flat washer.

Position the receiver (2) and the thrust bearing (5) on the rod.
9. Position the flat washer (3) and the nut (4) on the rod.





10. Tighten the nut.





11. Remove the bearing from the brake drum.





12. Remove the bearing from the CH-47914.

Installation Procedure





1. Using the CH-47914, place the rear wheel bearing (6) on the rod (8).

2. Important:
Ensure the raised portion of the spacers fit inside the inner bearing race.

Position the CH-47914-2 large spacer (2) and the CH-47914-3 small spacer (3) on the rod.
3. Position the 2 flat washers (5, 7) and the 2 nuts (1, 4) on the rod.





4. Tighten the nuts in order to position the spacers on the bearing.
5. Ensure the large spacer is near the end of the rod.





6. Insert the rod into the rear brake drum. Ensure the large spacer is on the outboard side of the rod.
7. Apply a light coat of J 23444-A on the rod.





8. Important:
Position the thrust bearing (5) between the receiver (2) and the flat washer (3).

Position the receiver and the thrust bearing on the rod.
9. Position the flat washer and the nut (4) on the rod.





10. Important:
Ensure the wheel bearing is properly seated into the drum. Do not use power tools on the nut. Pressing the bearing does not require much force.

Tighten the nut in order to press the wheel bearing into the drum.
11. Remove the CH-47914.





12. Install the wheel bearing retainer clip.
