Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement



INFLATABLE RESTRAINT INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION:
- The sensing and the diagnosis module (SDM) can maintain sufficient voltage to deploy the airbags and pretensioners for up to 1 minute after the ignition has been turned OFF and the fuse has been removed. If the airbags and pretensioners are not disconnected, do not begin service until one minute
has been passed after disconnecting power to the SDM. Failure to do so may cause personal injury.
- Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.

2. Remove the glove box.
3. Disconnect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.
4. Remove the passenger air bag module by removing the mounting bolts from the air bag bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the passenger air bag module by installing the mounting bolts to the air bag bracket.

Tighten the passenger air bag module mounting bolt to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Connect the passenger air bag yellow electrical connector.
3. Install the glove box.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
