Main Lower Shaft Disassemble




1. Using a press tube (1) and a press plate, remove the main shaft bearing assembly (200).
2. Remove the 6th gear bearing assembly (201).
3. Remove the 6th gear assembly (202).




4. Remove the 6th gear blocking ring (203).
5. Remove the 6th gear synchronizer (204).
6. Remove the 5th and 6th gear blocker sleeve (205).
7. Remove the 5th and 6th gear inserts (208).




8. Using retaining ring pliers, remove the 5th/6th gear retainer ring (206).




9. Press off the 5th gear (213) using a press tube (1) and press plate (2).
10. Remove the 5th and 6th gear synchronizer hub (207).
11. Remove the 5th gear synchronizer (211).
12. Remove the 5th and 6th gear blocking ring (212).
13. Remove the 5th gear (213).
14. Remove the 5th gear bearing assembly (214).




15. Remove the 2nd gear thrust washer retainer ring (215) and the 2nd gear thrust washer (216).
16. Remove the 2nd gear assembly (217) and the 2nd gear bearing assembly (218).
17. Remove the 2nd gear outer blocking ring (219), the 2nd gear intermediate blocking ring (220) and the 2nd gear inner blocking ring (221).
18. Remove the 1st and 2nd gear sleeve (222).
19. Remove the 1st and 2nd gear insert assembly (225).




20. Using retaining ring pliers, remove the 1st gear retainer ring (223).




21. Using a press tube (1) and press plate (2), press to release.
22. Remove the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizer hub (224).
23. Remove the 1st gear inner blocking ring (228), the 1st gear intermediate blocking ring (229), and the 1st gear outer blocking ring (230).
24. Remove the 1st gear bearing assembly (231).
25. Remove the 1st gear assembly (232).
26. Remove the 1st gear bearing assembly (233).





Important: This step is only necessary if the tapered roller bearing or the lower main shaft is being replaced. Since the bearing is destroyed on removal, the transmission bearing clearance must be reset.

27. Release the main shaft bearing assembly (235) on the clutch housing side with a two jaw puller (1) and a shaft protector (2).
28. Detach the main shaft bearing assembly (235) from the main lower shaft (234).
