Main Upper Shaft Disassemble
1. Press off using a press tube (1) and press plate (2).
2. Remove the main shaft bearing cone assembly (300).
3. Remove the 4th gear (301).
4. Remove the 4th gear bearing assembly (302).
5. Remove the 4th gear outer blocking ring (303), the 4th gear intermediate blocking ring (304) and the 4th gear inner blocking ring (305).
6. Using snap ring pliers, remove the 3rd and 4th gear retainer ring (307).
7. Remove the 3rd and 4th gear sleeve (306).
8. Remove the 3rd and 4th gear inserts (309).
9. Push off 3rd gear using press tube (1) and a press plate.
10. Remove the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer hub (308).
11. Remove the 3rd gear inner blocking ring (312), the 3rd gear intermediate blocking ring (313) and the 3rd gear outer blocking ring (314).
12. Remove the 3rd gear assembly (315).
13. Remove the 3rd gear bearing assembly (316).
14. Press off using press tube (2) and press plate (1).
15. Remove the main shaft spacer (317).
16. Remove the reverse gear synchronizer sleeve (318).
17. Remove the reverse gear synchronizer inserts (321).
18. Using snap ring pliers, remove the reverse gear retainer ring (319).
19. Press off reverse gear using a press tube (1).
20. Remove the reverse gear synchronizer hub (320).
21. Remove the reverse gear outer blocking ring (324), the reverse gear intermediate blocking ring (325), and the reverse gear inner blocking ring (326).
22. Remove the reverse gear (327).
23. Remove the reverse gear bearing assembly (328).
24. Remove the reverse gear thrust washer (329).
Important: This step is only necessary if the main shaft bearing cone or the upper main shaft is being replaced. Since the bearing is destroyed on removal, the transmission bearing clearance must be reset.
25. Release the main shaft bearing cone assembly (331) on the clutch housing side using a two jaw puller (1) and a shaft protector (2).
