Starter Motor Replacement (LY7)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the front catalytic convertor.




5. Remove the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut.




6. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.




7. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the starter motor in the engine block.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the mounting bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




3. Connect the engine harness electrical connector to the starter.




4. Install the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut.

Tighten the bolts/nuts to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

5. Install the knock sensor Bank 2.
6. Install the front catalytic convertor.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
