Headlining Trim Panel Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

1. Disable the roof rail SIR system, if equipped. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Remove the windshield garnish moldings.
3. Remove the sunshades.
4. Remove the sunshade supports.
6. Remove the rear corner garnish moldings.
7. Remove the rear retainers from the headliner.
8. Remove the front passenger seat.
9. Move the driver seat full forward.
10. Recline the driver seat.
11. Remove the rear seat bolster assembly.
12. Remove the rear body trim panel.




13. Remove the fastener from the body wiring junction block. Slide the junction block towards the rear of the vehicle and pull out.




14. Remove the headliner wiring harness from the rear junction block.




15. Pass the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.




16. Partially remove the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement.
17. Remove the headliner wire harness from the rear quarter panel.
18. Disconnect the sunroof electrical connector, if equipped.
19. If equipped, remove the sunroof finishing lace. Refer to Sunroof Finishing Lace Replacement (C3Y) Sunroof Finishing Lace Replacement (CF5).
20. Partially remove the door opening weatherstrips. Refer to Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement (Convertible) Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement (Coupe) Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement (Sedan) and Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement.






Notice: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

21. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the rear passenger door.

Installation Procedure

1. If installing a new headliner, transfer the dome lamp and the console to the new headliner.




2. Install the headliner to the vehicle through the rear passenger door.
3. Connect the sunroof electrical connector.
4. If equipped, install the sunroof finishing lace. Refer to Sunroof Finishing Lace Replacement (C3Y) Sunroof Finishing Lace Replacement (CF5).




5. Attach the headliner wire harness to the rear quarter panel.




6. Route the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.
7. Reinstall the rear shelf trim panel.




8. Install the headliner wiring harness to the rear body wiring junction block.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

9. Install the rear junction block to the vehicle and secure with the fastener.

Tighten the fastener to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

10. Install the rear body trim panel.
11. Install the rear seat bolster assembly.
12. Place the driver seat in an upright position.
13. Install the front passenger seat.
14. Install the rear fasteners to the headliner.
15. Install the garnish moldings to the upper center pillar.
16. Install the sunshade supports.
17. Install the sunshades.
18. Install the windshield garnish moldings.
19. Install the door opening weatherstrips.
20. Enable the roof rail SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
