Indicator/Warning Message Description and Operation
INDICATORS
RADIO WARNING MESSAGES
CHANGE OIL SOON
The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message when the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil life is 0 percent. The PCM/ECM sends a serial data message to the BCM to request the radio to illuminate the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message in the DIC via the GMLAN serial data link. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting.
DOOR AJAR
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) and the driver information center (DIC) in the radio illuminates the door ajar indicator when the body control module (BCM) detects that any of the four doors is open. The IPC and DIC receive a low speed GMLAN serial data message from the BCM requesting illumination. If the vehicle is shifted out of park with a door open, the BCM sends a low speed GMLAN serial data message to the IPC in order to activate an audible warning.
ICE POSSIBLE
The radio illuminates the ICE POSSIBLE message when the outside air temperature drops below 2.0°C (36°F). When the temperature rises above 5.5°C (42°F), the ICE POSSIBLE message turns OFF. The radio receives a GMLAN message indicating the outside air temperature from the body control module (BCM).
LOW FUEL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the low fuel indicator when the IPC detects that the fuel level is less than 14 percent. The indicator is an LED on the fuel gage. The IPC receives a GMLAN message indicating fuel level percent from the body control module (BCM).
LOW OIL PRESSURE
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the engine oil pressure indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM) detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The PCM/ECM sends a GMLAN message to the body control module (BCM) indicating low engine oil pressure. The IPC receives a GMLAN message requesting illumination from the BCM.
SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON in the following conditions:
* The body control module (BCM) detects certain malfunctions that are not emissions related. The IPC receives a GMLAN message requesting illumination from the BCM.
* The IPC detects a loss of GMLAN communications with the BCM.
VEHICLE OVERSPEED (Export Only)
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates vehicle overspeed indicator when the body control module (BCM) detects that the vehicle speed is more than 120 km/h (75 mph). The IPC receives a GMLAN message requesting illumination from the BCM.
