B0931

DTC B0931

Circuit Description

The internal fault detection is handled by the driver information center (DIC).

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC B0931 Compass Sensor Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTC

The DIC monitors the analog input value at power up.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DIC does not detect the compass sensor. This may be due to a faulty sensor or a remote sensor, sunroof only, that is not connected to the DIC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The DTC will be set and stored in non-volatile memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The DTC becomes history when the DIC no longer detects a failure.
* The history DTC clears after 100 fault-free ignition cycles.
* The DIC receives the clear code command from the scan tool.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the electronic compass module.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the compass module ground and ground.

If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates when connected between the electronic compass module ignition 1 voltage circuit and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition 1 voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.

4. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance in the compass clock signal circuit and the compass data signal circuit.

If greater than 1 ohm of resistance, test the compass clock signal circuit and the compass data signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit(s) test normal, replace the driver information center (DIC).

5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the electronic compass module.
