Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Circuit/System Description

The driver information center (DIC) displays important vehicle information including compass and ambient air temperature. Power is provided to the DIC via the IP Fuse Block. The DIC communicates with the instrument panel cluster (IPC) via the serial data circuit.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the DIC.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the DIC ground circuit and ground.

If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground reference circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates when connected between the DIC battery positive voltage circuit and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the battery positive voltage circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DIC.
