Inflatable Restraint Roof Rail Module Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure

Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Lower the headliner to access the inflator module. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement.




3. Release the connector positive assurance (CPA) (1) on the inflator harness connector (2).




4. Disconnect the harness connector (2) from the inflator (3).
5. Remove the headliner electrical harness push-in connector from the inflator bracket.
6. Remove the screws (1) from the roof rail module.




7. Remove the push-in retainer (2) from the inflator bracket (1).
8. Remove the screw (3) from the inflator bracket.
9. Remove the roof rail module from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other impurities from the mounting surface. Inspect the nuts and replace if necessary.






Caution: Apply Loctite 242(R) Threadlocker US P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489), or equivalent, on all restraint bolts/nuts before installation. Failure to use such threadlocker correctly may result in personal injury.

Caution: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS). Before applying power to the SIS make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedures could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the inflator bracket screw (3).

Tighten the screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the inflator bracket push-in retainer (2).






Important: Make certain the roof rail module is not twisted when installed.

4. Position the roof rail module over the sail panel bracket (4).

Important: The sunroof drainage hoses must be routed outboard of the roof rail module.

5. Install the inflatable restraint roof rail module screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the harness connector (2) to the inflator (3). Engage the CPA.
7. Install the headliner electrical harness retainer to the inflator bracket.
8. Install the headliner.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
10. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.
