Bulletin No.: 07-07-30-001Date: January 03, 2007
TECHNICAL
Subject:
Rattle Noise In Floor Shifter (Bind Shift Control To Outer Bezel Trim Ring)
Models:
2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice
with Automatic Transmission
Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle in the area of the shifter.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a tolerance fit between the shifter controller and the bezel trim ring.
Correction
Apply Instant GM Gel Adhesive to the retainer tabs following the procedure below.
Lift up the lower edge of the instrument panel cluster trim plate assembly just enough to reach a finger underneath. This will release the shifter bezel retaining tabs from the instrument panel cluster trim plate assembly.
Lift up on the assembly to gain access to the four tabs.
Place a shop rag on the console to protect the console from adhesive spillage.
Apply GM Instant Gel Adhesive to the four small windows in the bezel trim ring where the snap tabs of the shifter controller plate are joined together.
Allow the adhesive to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Reinstall the bezel trim ring back into the console. First insert the tab on the ring at the 6 o'clock position and then slowly apply pressure around the circumference of the bezel. Do not apply a slam load to the center of the bezel or it may damage the chrome.
