Folding Top Cover Side Tension Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: The folding top will be required to be supported.

1. Remove the left or right side front weatherstrip retainers.
2. Remove the left or right side rear weatherstrip retainers.
3. Position the top to the fully closed position.
4. Remove the folding top striker located in the rear of the top.
5. Remove the folding top cover rear retainer.
6. Remover the lower center locator pin and nut.




7. Disconnect the 2 cloth straps at the rear pivot bracket nut.




8. Remove the cable roller from the side rail by removing the screw.

Important: The folding top retainer flap is glued to the front side rail.

9. Fold back the front side edge of the folding top by releasing the retainer strip to expose the bolt for the forward cable and bracket attachment point.
10. Remove the bolt and bracket for the forward cable and bracket attachment point.
11. Disconnect the cable from the forward attachment bracket.
12. Remove the P-clip from the side rail by drilling out the rivet.
13. Remove the cable from the rear attachment bracket.




14. Remove the wire loop that retains the cable on the buttress link by drilling out the rivets.
15. Remove the P-clip on the side rail to the elastic strap that retains the top cover by drilling out the rivet.
16. Remove the spring assembly from the side rail.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the spring assembly to the side rail.




2. Install the P-clip on the side rail with the elastic strap that retains the top cover with a rivet.
3. Install the wire loop that retains the cable on the buttress link with rivets.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

4. Install the bolt and bracket for the forward cable attachment point.

Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Connect the cable to the rear attachment bracket.
6. Install the P-clip to the side rail with a rivet.
7. Connect the cable to the forward attachment bracket.




8. Install the cable roller to the side rail with the screw.

Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

9. Connect the 2 cloth straps at the rear pivot bracket nut.
10. Inspect the spring assembly to the side rail.
11. Install the folding top striker located in the rear of the top.
12. Install the lower center locator pin and nut.
13. Install the folding top cover rear retainer.

Important: The old adhesive must be removed and follow the manufacture directions for the new adhesive.

14. Reposition the top cover retainer strip to the front side edge of the folding top to the side rail.
15. Install the side front weatherstrip retainers.
16. Install the side rear weatherstrip retainers.
17. Position the folding top to the up position.
18. Inspect the folding top for proper fit and operation.
