Exhaust Rattle/Vibration Noise When Vehicle is Cold on Acceleration or When Shifting Gears Above 2000 RPM (Install Longer Exhaust Muffler)

Models:
2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice

with 2.4L Engine (VIN B-RPO LE5) and 5-Speed Manual Transmission (RPOs MA5, MM5)

Condition

Some customers may comment on a rattle/vibration noise from the vehicle on moderate to hard acceleration or while shifting gears above 2000 RPM. The noise may be heard when the engine is cold and goes away as the engine and exhaust system warms up.

Cause

The source of the noise is the original short muffler which measures 506.7 mm (19.95 in).

Correction

Install a longer muffler which measures 646.7 mm (25.46 in). Refer to Muffler Replacement in SI.
