Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the roof and mid spoilers, if equipped.
2. Remove rear wiper arm.
3. Open and support the liftgate.
4. Remove the liftgate trim panel.
5. Remove wiper motor assembly.
6. Remove the liftgate window struts.
7. Remove the liftgate window.
8. Remove the liftgate window weatherstrip.
9. Remove the liftgate applique.
10. Remove the license lamps.
11. Remove the liftgate latch.
12. Remove the liftgate window latch.
13. Remove the high mount stoplamp.
14. Remove the liftgate harness.




15. Remove the rear wiper relay screws (3).
16. Remove rear wiper relay (1) and bracket (4) from liftgate.
17. Remove the liftgate struts.
18. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
19. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the liftgate with a grease pencil.




20. Remove the bolts (1) from the liftgate hinges (2), with an assistant.
21. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle, with an assistant and place outside face down on a clean padded surface.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the liftgate hinges to the marked location points on the liftgate, with an assistant.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the bolts (1) to the liftgate hinges (2), with an assistant.

Tighten the liftgate hinge bolts to 19.5 N.m (14 lb ft).

3. Support the liftgate.
4. Install the liftgate struts.




5. Install the rear wiper relay (1) with bracket (4), secure relay with screws (3).
6. Install the liftgate harness.
7. Install the high mount stop lamp.
8. Install the liftgate window latch.
9. Install the liftgate latch.
10. Install the license lamps.
11. Install the liftgate applique.
12. Install the liftgate window weatherstrip.
13. Install the liftgate window.
14. Install the liftgate window struts.
15. Install the wiper motor assembly.
16. Install the roof and mid spoilers, if removed.
17. Install the liftgate trim panel.
18. Close liftgate.
19. Install the rear wiper arm.
