Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair



Front Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following procedures:
^ Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 Replacement
^ Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 Replacement
2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle.




3. Remove the floor panel brace.




4. Remove the following components from the exhaust manifold:
^ The 2 bolts
^ The 2 springs
5. Remove the following components from the front pipe to the three way catalytic converter (TWC) exhaust pipe:
^ The 2 bolts
^ The 2 springs
6. Remove the front pipe from the front pipe hanger (2).
7. Remove the front pipe from the vehicle.
8. Clean the gasket and seal the mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the front pipe to the vehicle.
2. Install the front pipe to the front pipe hanger (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

3. Install the following components to the front pipe to the TWC exhaust pipe:
^ The 2 springs
^ The 2 bolts

Tighten the front pipe-to-TWC exhaust pipe bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

4. Install the following components to the exhaust manifold:
^ The 2 springs
^ The 2 bolts

Tighten the front pipe-to-exhaust manifold bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).




5. Install the floor panel brace.

Tighten the front pipe floor brace nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

6. Install the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following procedures:
^ Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 Replacement
^ Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 Replacement
7. Lower the vehicle.
