Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the evaporator inlet and outlet hoses from the evaporator tube assembly (3).
3. Remove the grommet and insulator.
4. Remove the two bolts (4) and expansion valve (2) from the evaporator.
5. Remove and discard the O-rings (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install new O-rings (1) coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the evaporator and expansion valve.
2. Install the expansion valve (2) and evaporator tube assembly (3) to the evaporator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
3. Install the two bolts (4) to the expansion valve.
Tighten the bolts (4) to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in).
4. Install the evaporator inlet and outlet hoses.
5. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
6. Operate the A/C system. Inspect for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Leak Testing. Leak Testing
