Rear Compartment Lid Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the rear compartment lid.
2. Place the protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
3. Use a grease pencil to mark the hinge to the rear compartment lid for the location at installation.
4. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the rear compartment lid harness.
5. Remove the rubber height adjustment bumpers.
6. Remove the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the rear spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment lid hinges with an assistant.
9. Remove the rear compartment lid with an assistant.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the rear compartment lid to the hinges with an assistant.
2. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lid hinges.
Do not torque the nuts until after the lid has been aligned.
3. Align the rear compartment lid for even gaps.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
4. Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Install the rubber height adjustment bumpers.
Important: When installing a new compartment lid, use mechanics wire to pull the wiring harness into position.
6. Install the rear compartment lid wiring harness to the rear compartment lid.
7. Install the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components on the rear compartment lid.
9. Install the rear spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Rear Spoiler Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Remove the protective coverings.
11. Adjust the rear compartment height by turning the black rubber bumpers by hand.
12. Close the rear compartment lid.
