Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Using the finger opening, remove the access hole cover from the right instrument panel (I/P) compartment.




2. Pull the I/P outboard trim plate rearward in order to release the retainers.
3. Remove the I/P trim plate.
4. Open the I/P compartment.




5. Disengage the compartment door stop using the following procedure:

1. Press the upper door stop (2) toward the center of the vehicle.
2. Rotate the door away from the compartment.

6. Pull the I/P accessory trim plate rearward slightly for access to the I/P inboard trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .




7. Pull the I/P inboard trim plate toward the passenger door opening. Remove the I/P trim plate.




8. Remove the I/P compartment screws.




9. Disconnect the wiring harness retainers at the rear of the I/P compartment.




10. Pull the I/P compartment from the I/P.
11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the I/P compartment lamp switch.
12. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch.




13. Remove the I/P compartment.



Installation Procedure





1. Align the I/P compartment to the I/P.




2. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch to the opening in the I/P compartment.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the I/P compartment lamp switch.




4. Install the wiring harness retainers to the rear of the I/P compartment.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

5. Align the I/P compartment to the I/P trim pad. Install the I/P compartment screws.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb ft).





6. Align the I/P inboard trim plate retainers to the slots in the I/P carrier. Press the trim plate to engage the retainers.
7. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement (Service and Repair) .




8. Engage the door stop using the following procedure:

1. Press the upper door stop (2) toward the center of the vehicle.
2. Rotate the door up to the compartment.

9. Close the I/P compartment.




10. Position the I/P outboard trim plate retainers to the slots in the I/P carrier.
11. Install the I/P trim plate by pressing the panel straight into the I/P carrier.




12. Align the access hole cover for the right I/P compartment to the I/P trim pad. Press the cover to the trim .
