Heater Inlet Pipe Adapter Replacement

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers


Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 - 5.3L GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 - 5.3L Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 - 3.8L GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 - 3.8L Static Fill) (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair) .




3. Disconnect the heater inlet hose from the pipe adapter.
4. Use J 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose clamp.




5. Remove the heater pipe adapter mounting bolt.
6. Remove the heater pipe adapter.



Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate the O-ring with coolant.




2. Install the heater pipe adapter.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the heater pipe adapter mounting bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).





4. Connect the heater inlet hose to the pipe adapter.
5. Use J 38185 in order to secure the heater core hose clamp.
6. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 - 5.3L GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LS4 - 5.3L Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 - 3.8L GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (L26 - 3.8L Static Fill) (Service and Repair) .
