Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution) .
Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution (SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution) .
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Removal and Replacement) .




3. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket bolts.




4. Remove the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the PSIR wire harness metal edge clips from the I/P trim pad.
6. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module nuts.
7. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module.
8. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping (Service and Repair) .



Installation Procedure





1. Align the inflatable restraint I/P module to the I/P trim pad.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module nuts.

Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Route the PSIR wire harness under the locating rib and attach the metal edge clips to the I/P trim pad.
4. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Service and Repair) .




5. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module bracket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Removal and Replacement) .
7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
