Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement



Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement (LS4 - 5.3L)

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector


Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging) .
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .




3. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the compressor hose block to the evaporator tube.
4. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the evaporator tube.




5. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the condenser.
6. Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the condenser.




7. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the A/C compressor.
8. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
9. Remove and discard all sealing washers.



Installation Procedure

1. Install new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement (Sealing Washer Replacement) .




2. Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the A/C compressor.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).





4. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.

Important: Use a 20mm wrench or pliers to hold the A/C condenser block fitting, this will prevent the A/C line from twisting while torquing the A/C line nut.


5. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).





6. Install the A/C compressor hose to the evaporator tube.
7. Install the A/C compressor hose to evaporator tube nut.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (12.5 lb ft).

8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging) .
10. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
