Folding Top Side Rail Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the folding top from the vehicle. Refer to Folding Top Replacement (Folding Top Replacement).
2. Remove the rear side weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Replacement (Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Replacement).
3. Remove the rear side weatherstrip retainers. Refer to Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement (Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement).
4. Remove the side tension cable. Refer to Folding Top Cover Rear Side Tension Cable Replacement (Folding Top Cover Rear Side Tension Cable Replacement) or Folding Top Cover Front Side Tension Cable Replacement (Folding Top Cover Front Side Tension Cable Replacement).
5. Remove the 3 bolts from the folding top side rail (1).
6. Disconnect the right or left number 4 bow as required. Refer to Folding Top Number 4 Bow Replacement (Folding Top Number 4 Bow Replacement).
7. Disconnect the right or left number 3 bow as required. Refer to Folding Top Number 3 Bow Replacement (Folding Top Number 3 Bow Replacement).
8. Remove the torque tube (2).
9. Remove the folding top link. Refer to Folding Top Link Replacement (Folding Top Link Replacement).
10. Disconnect the buttress lift cable from the spring.
11. Remove the folding top side rail (1) from the top.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the folding top side rail (1) to the top.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the 3 bolts to the folding top side rail (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Connect the right or left number 4 bow as required. Refer to Folding Top Number 4 Bow Replacement (Folding Top Number 4 Bow Replacement).
4. Connect the right or left number 3 bow as required. Refer to Folding Top Number 3 Bow Replacement (Folding Top Number 3 Bow Replacement).
5. Install the ball socket infold drive link.
6. Install the side tension cable. Refer to Folding Top Cover Rear Side Tension Cable Replacement (Folding Top Cover Rear Side Tension Cable Replacement) or Folding Top Cover Front Side Tension Cable Replacement (Folding Top Cover Front Side Tension Cable Replacement).
7. Connect the buttress link cable to the spring.
8. Install the rear side weatherstrip retainers. Refer to Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement (Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement).
9. Install the rear side weatherstrip. Refer to Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Replacement (Folding Top Side Rear Weatherstrip Replacement).
10. Install the folding top to the vehicle. Refer to Folding Top Replacement (Folding Top Replacement).
11. Inspect and test the folding top for proper fit and adjustment. Refer to Folding Top Adjustment (Adjustments).
