DTC Descriptor
DTC B2555 05
- Passenger Compartment Lamp Control Circuit Open or Short to Battery
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The INT LIGHT fuse supplies battery voltage to the inadvertent load control relay located in the body control module (BCM). The BCM applies ground to the inadvertent relay control circuit which energizes the inadvertent load control relay coil. With the relay coil energized, the switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to flow from the INT LIGHT fuse to the inside rearview mirror lamps through the inside rearview mirror lamps supply voltage circuit. The inside rearview mirror lamps are controlled by a 3 position (OFF, DOOR, ON) switch. When the inside rearview mirror switch is placed in the DOOR position, the lamps are controlled by the BCM by grounding the courtesy lamp control circuit. When any door is opened, the jam switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-open input. If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock input, the BCM will activate the inadvertent relay control circuit, providing battery voltage to the inside rearview mirror lamps. The BCM also provides ground to the inside rearview mirror lamps through the courtesy lamp control circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Condition for Setting the DTC
DTC B2555 05 will set when the BCM detects a short to voltage or an open/high resistance in the courtesy lamp control circuit.
Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
When DTC B2555 05 is present, the inside rearview mirror lamps will only operate manually with the inside rearview mirror lamp switches.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inside rearview mirror.
2. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate control circuit terminal listed below and B+.
* Courtesy lamp control terminal 6
* Courtesy lamp control terminal 1 - with UE1
3. Command the Courtesy Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inside rearview mirror.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement (Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement)
* Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) for BCM replacement, setup, and programming
