DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC P0977 Shift Solenoid 2 (SS2) Open or Short to Power

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* No emergency mode.
* TCM detects that the ON signal (12 V) of the shift solenoid monitor, when the SS2 driver outputs the OFF signal (0V) for 0.5 of a second continuously.
* Detection continuously occurs 1 time.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The TCM will request the illumination of Hold/Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and store the DTC when the TCM detects a failure on the first ignition cycle.
* After failure detection the emergency mode is enabled.
* No Lockup Control
* No Engine Torque Reduction Control
* No Engagement Pressure Control
* No timing solenoid control for N - D
* No 4th Gear
* No Self-Learning Control

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The TCM turns off the Hold/Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when no further failures are detected on the next 3 consecutive ignition cycles.
* The scan tool can clear the DTC from the TCM history.
* The TCM clears the DTC from the TCM history memory after 40 consecutive ignition cycles without fault.
* The TCM detects the OFF signal of the SS2 monitor, when the SS2 driver outputs the OFF signal for 1000 milliseconds continuously.
