Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

Luggage Compartment Description and Operation

Luggage Compartment System Components

The luggage compartment system consists of the following components:

* Rear compartment lid release switch
* Rear compartment lid latch release actuator
* Remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) - A module which requires programming when replaced
* CLUSTER/ROOM LAMP 10A fuse
* Rear compartment lid ajar switch

The keyless entry transmitter or the rear compartment lid release switch (located on the drivers door) can operate the rear compartment lid latch release actuator. When the rear compartment lid release switch or the keyless entry transmitter is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the rear compartment lid latch release actuator. The trunk lid will then release. There is also a door ajar indicator in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Whenever the trunk lid or liftgate is open, the rear compartment open lamp will illuminate. Also within the rear compartment is an emergency release handle, the emergency release handle will glow in the dark. In the event that someone is accidently locked inside the rear compartment, this emergency handle when pulled, will manually activate the rear compartment lid release actuator.
