Power Door Locks Description and Operation
Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
* Driver door lock switch
* Reversible door lock actuators in each of the doors
* DOOR LOCK F14 15A fuse - Located in the I/P fuse block, supplies power for the door lock and door unlock relays
* I/P fuse block - Contains the door lock relay, door unlock relay and contains logic
Door Lock System Controls
The power door lock system can be controlled by any of the following:
* Power door lock switch activation
* Keyless entry lock or unlock command, if equipped
* An air bag deployment
* When the OnStar(R) system is used to unlock the driver door, if equipped
Door Lock and Unlock Operation
The I/P fuse block contains logic "controller" and supplies ground to the control side of the door lock and door unlock relays when appropriate. The I/P fuse block receives "requests" from the door lock switch when either the lock/unlock switch is pressed. The I/P fuse block also receives a lock or unlock "request from the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) when the lock or unlock buttons are pressed.
