Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
Battery voltage is supplied at all times to the door ajar indicator the I/P fuse block. The door jamb switches are normally open when the door is fully closed. When a door is opened, the door jamb switch contacts close providing a path to ground for the door ajar indicator.

Circuit/System Verification
Observe the function of the door ajar indicator while opening and closing each door. The door ajar indicator should turn ON and OFF as each door is opened and closed
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate door jamb switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify the door ajar indicator is not illuminated.
• If the door ajar indicator is illuminated, test the control circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
3. Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground, verify the door ajar indicator is illuminated.
• If the door ajar indicator is not illuminated, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the door jamb switch.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Door Jamb Switch Replacement (Service and Repair)
* Instrument Cluster Replacement (Service and Repair)
