Antitheft - Intermittent Engine No Crank

Subject: Intermittent Engine No Crank or Delayed Crank (Reprogram Immobilizer [Theft Deterrent Module])

Models:
2009-2010 Chevrolet Aveo
2009-2010 Pontiac G3 Wave

Condition

Some customers may comment on a intermittent no crank or delayed crank condition. It may be necessary to hold the key in the start position for several seconds (approximately 5-7 seconds) until the vehicle cranks and starts.

Further investigation will reveal no DTCs and the security LED off in the digital clock.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a software anomaly within the immobilizer (theft deterrent module).

Correction





Verify whether the immobilizer (theft deterrent module) part number is 96650713 or 95950050.

- If the P/N is 96650713, reprogram the immobilizer (theft deterrent module) with the latest calibrations available in TIS2WEB (Calibration ID: 4443).
- If the P/N is 95950050, reprogram the immobilizer (theft deterrent module) with the latest calibrations available in TIS2WEB (Calibration ID: 4442).
