Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Diagnostic Procedure Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The wiper washer pump operation is controlled by suppling ignition voltage through the wiper switch to the wiper washer pump control circuits. Ignition voltage is supplied though the WIPER fuse.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, Verify that the front windshield wipers operate.
• If the front windshield wipers do not operate, refer to Windshield Wiper System Malfunction (Windshield Wiper System Malfunction)
2. Verify the rear window wiper operates.
• If the rear window wiper does not operate, refer to Rear Wiper System Malfunction (Rear Wiper System Malfunction)
3. Verify the window wiper washer operates.
• If the wiper washer does not operate, refer to wiper washer malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate wiper washer pump.
2. Test for less than 1ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
4. Observe the test light while applying the appropriate washer switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when applying and releasing the switch.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the wiper switch.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the wiper switch.
5. If all circuits test normal replace the appropriate wiper washer pump.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
