Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

S3 and S4 are part of the Rear Compartment Lid Release switch. The folding top control (FTC) module uses S3 and S4 to determine whether the claws at the rear of the deck lid are latched into the deck lid or unlatched. S3 closes and supplies a 12-volt reference to the signal circuit when the claws are unlatched. S4 closes and supplies a 12-volt reference to the signal circuit when the claws are latched.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The FTC module is operational.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

An open is detected on the signal circuit of S3.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The top is disabled.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at S3.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the 12-volt reference circuit terminal C and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the 12-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

3. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal A and B+.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit test is normal, replace the FTC module.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace S3.
